Performance check

With a view to assessing and checking the effective performance of the device in the course of time and under stress, we recruited the assistance of a group of divers of exceptional experience and professionalism, from the Italian Fire Service and the Pelizzari team.

G. Massimo Giudicelli, head of the division and head diver in the team, carries out daily training and emergency underwater assistance operations together with his team on a daily basis. In addition, as safety officers, they also take part in the training and record attempts of the diver Umberto Pelizzari, who currently holds the following world diving titles:
-  80 m in constant position
- 150 m in no limits position

We chose this team to check the response of the device in the normal underwater emergency situations and in limit conditions in diving.

Conclusioni

For people like us, for whom underwater diving is a job, it's essential to be able to use reliable, technologically advanced equipment. The results obtained with this new mouthpiece after two years' use in all types of operating conditions enable us to confirm its high quality. The benefits noted by the whole team are such that we feel it would be impossible to return to using traditional mouthpieces today. Consequently, we would have no hesitation in recommending this mouthpiece to professional and amateur divers. We also believe it is to be highly recommended for underwater fishing purposes.

Final report by Massimo G. Giudicelli

On 12/02/98 the manufacturer supplied us with 20 mouthpieces, which were distributed to each member of the team for customisation in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions. We fitted this new anatomical and physiological mouthpiece to the traditional air, oxygen and mixture distributors. The underwater tests began on 19/02/98.

All the members of the team immediately noted the excellent adhesion to the teeth and the extension of the mouthpiece grip element as far as the back teeth. This guarantees excellent stability of the device and avoids the need to keep the teeth constantly clenched, which was a typical problem with the traditional mouthpieces.

The greatest advantage noted in using these mouthpieces underwater was the relaxation of the mouth muscles, and those of the jaw in particular. For the diver, this means greater safety, especially in medium and long duration dives. The stability of the mouthpiece was extraordinary. During the customisation process, the grip surface shapes itself to the teeth, guaranteeing solid fixing and a firm, stable grip, all to the benefit of safety, especially in the event of accidental shock or strong currents that can knock the mouthpiece out of the mouth.

The mouthpiece was surprisingly long lasting. We carried out more than 300 dives, none of the team members experienced breakage or tearing and all the devices remained in perfect condition. This extraordinary fact can't be ignored, especially if we consider that the duration of the standard mouthpieces used by professional divers is limited to a maximum of 10 to 15 dives, due to the breakage of the holding pin which is inserted between the teeth.
